Hide and Seeker

I heard you call,
Where are you? Where could you be?

Feeling small,
I set out, in search of thee.

Everywhere! I looked,
Yet could not see.

I sat for hours, in search of answers,
You tried to tell me,
Overcome by grief, somehow, you made me laugh!

You wrote me books, you sent me prophets,
And came to me in wayward glances,
Yet still, still, I did not see.

Then at last, still –
There you are! Got you! You’re it!

I had searched in vain,
Never realising, all the while,
That you were me!

It was I, who laughed,
That I did not see.
